(sorry for the duplication, but I think I posted this in the wrong place)

I have the choice of 2 gun shows this weekend, the Old Dominion Gun Show in Bealeton, VA and the Silverado show in Upper Marlboro, MD.

I've never bought anything at a gunshow, so I have a few questions:
As a Virginia resident, can I buy a gun at a MD show? Do I have to have it shipped to a FFL?

anything else I should know?

My travel time is the same to either show, can anyone offer opinions on which is a better bet?
if if helps, I'm looking for the GI model mil-spec Springfield Armory 1911

thanks!

You can buy a 1911 at a show in Maryland, but you have to have it shipped to an FFL dealer in Virginia. Pain in the butt.

Your best bet is to hit the Bealton show.

Mike, you been to these shows recently? I stopped going several months ago when I realized I had a selection of stuff I was more interested in at Old Country Buffet. Worth going to?

Uh... Last Bealton show I was to was several months ago.

It wasn't great, but I needed some incidental materials such as bullets and brass.

Mike,
i have a neighbor who's a gunsmith and FFL and will take care of the transfer for me, so that isnt much of a problem, is it still worth going to bealeton?

i dont know if you remember, but we met out at the NRA range when a bunch of TFL'rs got together to shoot out there one day

Sorry, Spenny, my memory's not what it used to be since Lee Harvey Oswald shot me in the head back in Dallas in 1963 when I was JFK's body double...

I have NO clue what the Upper Marlborough shows are like, so I can't comment from that end. But the Bealton shows aren't that great anymore, really.
