Quick Ruger Mini-14 question?

Where exactly is the caliber/chamber markings on the rifle? I have looked it over and can't find it. The only place I couldn't look was under the top hand guard cause I have a scope mounted and can't remove it without removing the scope. I'm just curious is it 223 or 5.56 nato? Thanks

they are cut to take both though most are marked .223.

Where is it marked on the rifle? I couldn't find it.

Should be right on the heel of the receiver - Ruger Mini-14 Cal. .223" IIRC. However, Ruger claims that Minis have 5.56 chambers.

It was hard to see under the scope. I had to use a flashlight. I knew it was safe to shoot 5.56. I read that in the manual.
