Just waiting for Christmas and I will buying my 7 month old his first hunting and fishing licence.

No it isnt required and yes you are right he wont be able to use it any time soon.

But Virginia is starting a new Infant Lifetime Hunting and Fishing licence. This license is good like it says for their lifetime. and stays vailid even if they are no longer state residents. All of this for just $125 dollars. I think I love this state.

What type of hunting can be done with that license? I think that is a fantastic deal. I'm off to see if Colorado is as smart. brb

It is good for the small game. Any of the addtional tags or stamps would need to be purchased each year. The only down side is you have to buy it before they are 2 and my older son was too old before they started the license. But I still believe that this is something he will appreciate in the years to come.

In TN, they have a similar deal but it is $200 Lifetime Sportsmans License if under 2 years old. It covers hunting (big and small game) and fishing. You can apply for free for quota hunts. I believe the only thing it doesn't cover are migratory bird and trout, but I could be wrong as I'm not a duck hunter or trout fisherman.

Nice any other states that have one similar to this?

Not Colorado AFAICT. No real surprise there. Very little common sense prevails in this state's government.

NY has it, for children under 4, it's $380. That includes lifetime small game, big game, and fishing.

They also have different rates for children under 12, and adults, and seniors.
