Hey guys, I carried a J-frame appendix style for almost a year, I'm moving up to a Colt DS, don't know if that area will be as comfortable to carry in with a bigger gun. Thinking about an OWB paddle holster. Just wondering, do they ride high enough to conceal well? Looking at a Galco leather holster, ala

Might end up going with a Fobus to save money, but you get the gist. Any tips on concealing these? Or do they boil down to "Wear a long shirt." ;)

I've carried both and I don't think you will notice much difference, except for maybe the Colt's much better trigger pull!

OWB yes; paddle, no.

If concealment is a priority you will do better with a pancake holster that holds your sixgun snugly against your side. I actually prefer a mid ride to a high ride with a short-barreled revolver, since it puts the gun's thickest part--the cylinder--at my skinniest part--right at the belt. Wouldn't be an issue if I were in the shape I want, but we live in the bodies we have, don't we?

Back on point: I've just never found a paddle that rides anywhere near as close to the body as a pancake. CERTAINLY not a fobus.

I don't think it is enough bigger than the S&W small-frame that you would notice any significant difference.

I see no difference carrying a J frame or DS. Paddle holsters are not the best for concealment as far as I'm concerned.

I still prefer a Blackhawk OWB holster or a pocket holster.

With a good holster and belt, I didn't notice much difference between a J Frame and a K Frame, but YMMV.

I carry mine in an El Paso Saddlery C-Force holster.
