So I am purchasing a wooden stock from Ironwood Designs. I decided to go with Hard-Rock Maple for wood.

I wanted to know if anyone here could point me in the right direction of this color finish, or something close. I'm guessing it's a honey/brown?

I would use Danish Oil -They have many colors but I would start with the golden oak and maybe add some dark walnut.
Take a piece into a good unfinished furniture shop and ask them for thier take on the mix.
It will take several day for the oil to be absorbed.
The use a wipe on poly to further seal it. This will take a few days for good results. But you will be happy.

Buy small cans of stain using the manufacturers color chart for a starting point. Using a teaspoon, mix different portions of the stains in paper cups. Apply to scrap pieces of wood from the block you cut the stock from. Note which portions the sample is stained with. Let it dry. Apply your sealer (it does change the color sightly). After it dries pick the sample you like best, mix a larger batch of stain and apply to your stock. Time and patients is the secret. Good luck.
