What an UGLY Gun!

Now, I realize that firearms are tools, and all tools have their use, but tools CAN be asthetically pleasing also.
While looking through the weekly specials as Davidson's, I came across an SP-21, from Magnum Research. It just made me shudder.

Maybe a longer barrel to help lessen the "hump" look in the rear.
Ewwww.
Upon looking at it again (why? I don't know), I'm wondering how you get a sight on the target. The rear sight (if it's there) appears to be so much higher than the front sight.

It might be a setup like NAA put's on thier Guardian...the 'Gutter Snipe' they call it. The rear part of slide is spilt and that allows you to see the front sight.
But, that's just a guess.

you'd have to wipe it off with a Pork Chop to even get your dog to sniff it.
they don't even make Homeboy NightSights for it.

the only holster available for it is full flap WITH a zipper!

hi,
the Barak pistol is ugly, no debate.
And it is absolutely without a good reason to exist.
It is nothing else, but a CZ-75 (or Jericho) in a futuristic polymer bag.
The firing mech is the very same, the main difference is its complicated twin-recoil spring unit. (Why did they design it???)
The only acceptable theory on the "slide-tumor", that it is easier to chamber a round.
Most Israelis are trained on HiPowers and their policy is NOT to carry them in condition one.

I have to say, at that price point in that caliber with that number of mag's.........my M3 light fits it..........I'd actually consider it.
...but I'm a leftover sensitive 90's kind of guy that welcomes stray puppies, picks the homely Christmas tree nobody else wanted...well, you get the idea.
Besides, in .45ACP I think I could really identify with it. Kind of chunky, not the most handsome of the bunch, but definitely lethal! :p

It's ugly. And that's coming from a guy who likes some pretty ugly guns like his Kel-Tec P32, and Sub-9 carbine.
If all gun-brands were kids in grade school, Hi-Point just perked up, because he's no longer the bottom of the pecking order.
Somehow the Barak (Isn't that a character on Space Ghost coast to coast?) reminds me of the Colt 2000 All-American, but still managing to look anything like it.

Apparently I'm the only person who has actually handled one of these. :)
It is just as hideous in real life as in the pictures. Also the trigger was nothing to write home about, the controls were awkward, and as you can see the rear sight is just a channel through the slide, even though it had dots. So if you wanted to change sights you were out of luck.
When I saw it at SHOT show 2 years ago I figured that they would only sell if they were extreamly cheap. I could see it working if it was very reliable and sold for under $300. But over that, no way.

While to be sure, the original photo was a 9mm, the ported model from the Gunsandammo article could be a .40 S&W or .45 ACP...at least from what I can see...others may be more skillful in recognizing caliber from that angle.
I'm curious enough that I sent for some info', Magnum Research indicates I should receive next week.

To be perfectly honest, it is a conspiracy by Handgun Control crowd to stop people from buying guns. Since they can't control guns any other way, the new law they are trying to pass will make ALL handguns look like this. That way no one will want one.:D

None of the pic's there included porting.
It can be bought with tritium night sights or adjustable sights as an option.
It uses the same mag's as the Baby Eagle line which means you get get some decent high cap's in the $30 range from CDNN (9mm).
If I am reading correctly over at the CZ-Forum, there MAY be the opportunity to share mag's with say a CZ-75B (something I have).
It will definitely take my M3 Light...what the heck, I'm getting a quote on one with Tritium Night Sights.

Kind of reminds me of when Glocks first came out. What an ugly gun! Well, it turns out that something that ugly "has got to work", and it sure does! I have to admit this thing is ugly; but uglier than a USPc, Walther P99, Smith P99, any Ruger auto? I really don't think so. If it shoots as well in proportion to how ugly it is; it may just be a real beauty.
N3rday
