I picked up a new S&W 686 SSR from my FFL this week and really like it. The gun has a nice trigger and really good set of grips on it. The only other 357 mag I have is a 4" GP100 and they're about as different as two revolvers can be, but I think that the Ruger has a better trigger in DA than the Smith.....but it also has about 1000 rds through it as well. I'll see how much lighter the trigger gets on the S&W after the same amount of rds go through it.
Now just waiting on a gold bead front sight to arrive.

I love mine. The gold bead is the best for me. I interchange from my 625JM. Have fun.

I have to agree with you on that. When I bought my GP100, I was torn between that and the 686 SSR. I dry fired them both several times and finally concluded that the GP100 had a better trigger than the SSR so I ended up getting a 6" GP100. Last week I went back to the gun shop with the intention of picking up the SSR that they had there and instead I got another GP100, this time a 4" barrel. I felt that it too had a better DA trigger than the SSR. I have nothing against S&W or the 686 SSR, in fact I really like the SSR, but the GP100 is just such a great value.
I will have an SSR one of these days.

Very purty revolver. This is one of the few that I'd love to get my hands on but my wallet keeps telling my hands no!
