Definitely not! You cannot, for instance, bring a gun that has been put on the California "assault weapon" ban list into California. Even in a supposed gun-friendly state like Nevada (or at least in Clark County), you are supposed to register your handguns upon arrival. And that does not just apply to the one(s) you want to carry on your permit. ALL of them. Other examples abound and I could not begin to list them all, so I suggest contacting the attorney general's office of the state you want to move to or visit. And even then, some localities have their own laws regarding possession and/or transportation of firearms. What's a guy to do?

I am sure my dad's .22 bolt-action single-shot is 50 states legal. At least until Austrailia's and Britain's parliment finishes moving into Congress.:barf:

Caulking gun. That's about it. When I was in MA, you even have to have an FID card to possess a powder actuated nail gun because the law was so poorly written. There were rumblings of that being changed when I left that Hell hole but the wheels turn slowly.

I'm not sure if you mean take it TO any state as a destination, or pass THROUGH the state on the way to somewhere else.
There's a federal peacable travel law that provides for passing THROUGH states with firearms, so long as they're legal for you both at origin and destination of the trip, provided it's properly unloaded, locked, and stored in your trunk, and a couple of other provisions I don't recall @ the moment.
You have to be careful, though, there are a number of innocuous activities that might void this defense for you, so it's worth reading up on it.

If you include the PRNJ on that list, as well as the PRK, then no gun would be 50 state legal..
What about black powder???

What about a gun manufactured before 1899, considered to be an antique?

Wait, so y'all are telling me that there is some state so gosh-darned bass-ackwards that my dad's single-shot, bolt-action .22 is ILLEGAL? And these people were duly elected into office? :what: :what: :what: You have got to be kidding me.
And I had such hope for the human race.:(
