Hello friends and neighbors // It could be a Model 19 NRA

They had the full stock(military) and a 25" barrel.
1919 to 1937 Exc$395/VG250

Very nice looking .22, with family history you must feel lucky to have it.

I would disassemble and look for evidence of restocking, as you can clearly see that the stock comes from a rifle with the bolt more to the rear, looks like a springfeild 03 stock, metal should be marked with company and modle. keep looking, also look to see if marks migh have been polished off, check the barrel, at the very least it should have the maker and caliber.

Savage 19 NRA, wish I could have seen the full size pics to give an exact model #. Looks to be one of the later models before the magazine change. Everything is 100% factory.

Shadow 7D mentions the notch in the rear, it is for the safety. This rifle was built as a military training rifle but was beaten out by Mossberg even though it was more accurate, just not cheaper, it actually out shot the Remington's and Winchesters of the day.

They have a fairly crappy mag design but they shoot very well.

Yep the NRA 19 version of a Savage 23A. Best shooting out of the box .22lr guns I have ever seen.
