I've been a subscriber to this for several years:

http://www.rangemagazine.com/

Lots of good articles about the farmers and ranchers in the western states and their problems with government and environmentalists. Many photos of real people and real ranching, and a good bit of human interest stories about old timers as well as today's people of the land.

We get the same magazine. It gets me so mad at the envirofreaks and the government that it makes blood shoot out my eyes. It always amazes me after reading, what these people have to battle just to make a living. The enviros and the government has made it so that there is no such thing as private land anymore. They have more say on what happens than the land owner. They need to put the "Red Meat Survivors" in there at the end to make a person feel better after reading about the blunders of our government.

They do have some good quotes to counter arguing points however.

Understand, 721H, but let's leave the political comments out, please...

With all due respect Art, if anyone else had started this thread , more than likely, a moderator, would have closed it.

You told 721H to leave the political comments out of it, yet when I clicked the link, one third of the articles are political articles.

I saw no articles on firearms, yet when someone starts a thread about hunting/pac boot repair, or hunting pack frames, in the "Hunting" forum, their thread gets locked.

It appears their is a double standard for plain ol' members and moderators.

This site has a lot of authoritarian hypocrisy. I'm surprised the whole thread hasn't just disappeared, like undesirable comments often do. It's getting pointless to even comment, as you don't know if Bobby or Joey will deem it OFF TOPIC or POLITICAL.

Oftentimes, the tangential aspects of a discussion often yield the most beneficial ideas. The irony of shortsightedness is a sad thing, and for the most part I wish all the mods would give up their posts. Perhaps term limits would help.

A major value of that magazine is the number of articles about habitat management methods which benefit wildlife as well as livestock. Further, articles about how some practices of land management by various entities--private sector and public sector--affect habitat.

Habitat management affects the quality of hunting. That's why political commentary is not relevant to that aspect of the magazine, nor are snarky comments about gun or non-gun pertinent.

If 1/3 of the magzine is political, then that other 2/3 is not. It is within the remainder that useful information for western readers can be helpful. Sorta like the parable of the blind men and the elephant: Don't judge the totality by feeling the tail.

Comments about members, whether or not they are moderators, should be via PM. Don't give the appearance of whining.
