My little bro is going to start reloading for his weatherby 338-378 so I told him I would ask the "experts" ie you all for any good tips or personal experince with this cal.

He uses this rifle for elk mostly and the odd deer here and there and has been shooting factory weatherby 250g NP's. He is willing to trade a little speed for tighter groups. Really anything you can tell me about reloading this beast will be a big help.

All I can tell you for sure is, never ever back off the powder below recommended starting load charges.

Make no attempt to load "reduced plinking loads" in any overbore Magnum like the .338-378 as it is dangerous!

I went with the 200gr. Balistic Tip and 111 grs of H1000. this load groups MOA at 300 yds and has taken numerous Mulies and Elk without the dreaded blow up. I have a good supply of the 300 gr SMK that I will be loading to try and max out the range potential.
