I need this stock! I live in CA where the laws are BS so I can't have much in the way of a defense carbine so I'm working with my remington 870 HD it will be used while hiking/camping and in the truck for the most part not "in a big city" I NEED THIS STOCK!

It would make it perfect for my cruiser rack inside the truck and awesome to just hook onto my pack while hiking.

Just found out what stock it was but I am unclear on if it is available for civilian sale?

Doesn't appear it would work correctly unless you take it apart and turn it over.

Otherwise the recoil pad is going to be on the wrong side of the butt when it is folded down into position.

Then again, maybe it's one of those "Shoulder things that go up" Carolyn McCarthy warned us about.

Have at it - not impressed. Don't care for PGO's.

Why do you have a detachable magazine with it?

It's not a PGO it's a collapsing stock. It just makes it easier to pack up in my truck an pack while hiking/camping. I just ordered the last one at clyde! Let ya guys know how it handles when it arrives.

No cheek weld. I can't see that the stock could be pointed, at all, once extended.

Where do you hike, that you feel the need to lug that thing around instead of a revolver or something?

:banghead: How can one not see it is a collapsible stock. As to the mag it is raising the gun up for the photo making it easier to see. Same reason people put shotgun shells through pistol trigger guards in photos.

I'm with armed bear, I think that stock would preclude a good cheek weld. I have shot a lot of HK style collapsible stocks that are somewhat similar and the poor cheek weld makes them harder for me to shoot than the exact same gun with a different stock.

as for the stock i would see cheek weld problems as well but if your useing it for a defenceive piece youll probably practice point shooting it more than target shooting anyway

as long as the stock fits your need and you like it and are comfortable shooting it then go for it

... with the stock folded out of the way: You do indeed shoot it as PGO, so the actual answer is in between. Now, unlike popular opinion; PGO isn't an answer waiting for a question, it just has limited applications.
Now with the stock out: It looks like it would collapse to a couple of different lengths... Even some not achievable with an AR style collapsible stock.
Now as far as not getting a good cheek weld on the stock? I think that would be resolved with a reflex sight.

It's not about being tecticool all the sidefolders I have handled felt like s***. I hike/hunt/camp in the sierra nevada mountains here in CA. It's more so for defense against 2 legged critters there are A LOT of pot growers out here and I have ran into several farms hunting. It is not intended to be shot PGO but it packs up good and if need be it can be shot PGO. I don't understand all the hostility if you want to be a dick just don't post I'm not asking for your damn opinion just about the stock. I don't see how it would make much of a problem with cheek weld all I'm doing is dropping that bead on the target.

Simple answer. I don't have a revolver and don't have the cash to shell out for a new one I feel way more comfortable with being able to hit my target with a shotgun than a pistol.

chriso - I have lived and hiked in that country - if you can get past the fish hooks at eye level and the dogs whose voice boxes have been silenced, I understand..IMO, for THAT scenario, a handgun might be easier to quickly implement, even if not as impressive. A 357 or 44 is easier to pack at 6-9000 feet

Beautiful country isn't it? My family has property out past mountain ranch. I often hike anywhere from blue mountain on up to spicers but on the north side of the mountains mostly. I have ran into plenty of sketchy situations in my time hunting and hiking and even on our own property. I ALWAYS carry my glock 17 but I feel way safer armed with a shotgun if I were not only to run into a 2 legged critter but the wrong black bear or even rattler. The purpose of the shotgun is a general all purpose shotgun that packs easy for the truck while on the property, the house at night,Hiking/fishing/camp defense, even for those stray coyotes I see while driving around on the property. I'm no stranger to dealing with the weight ounces = pounds and pounds equal pain Sir while I'm on the property I usually carry my m1 garand but I'm looking to replace it with something a bit more practical and tight place friendly. I am VERY close friends with two deputies out in this county and they wouldn't dare being in these woods with anything less than a shotgun or ar15 and a go bag in the vehicle or on their person. I'm really hoping the cheek weld wont create to much of a problem to me I don't see how it would the mesa tactical is a similar design where the stock is lower than the tang but your just putting that front bead on the target so I'm not sure.

I understand - that being said.the stock on that...in the situations you're talking about is basically superfluous.....you won't get it extended in time..so either go with a PGO for ease of packing, or go with the full stock for better shot-to-shot accuracy......(gonna go and visit family/friends in Arcata (sp?) this summer which means going through the Humboldt/Trinity forest...I understand.... ;))

I understand your point and I do feel my full stock I have on my HD 870 is PERFECT but it just makes it not easy to pack. The reason I do want the stock is I for one do not really agree with PGO shotguns I think they have a VERY specific role and what I learned to use them for breaching. Thing is I want to be able to pack it easy and if I hear a bump in the night grab the gun from beside the bed and deploy stock and get ready to rock and roll. For most cases in the woods I would not have time to deploy the stock but If I can get into a position where I can I sure as hell will so I like having the option. You make a good point on the cheek weld and I am trying to talk to people who have experience with it to see their opinion. Oh jeeze now in humboldt county it's more rare to run into something OTHER than a pot farm ;) haha.

Geeze, something in the air?

A couple of long time contributors in Shotguns all of a sudden taking potshots?

Closed, before more permanent actions need to be taken.
