I have acquired one, looks pretty good. Great snap but no mark on rim? Will not eject but extractor holds case straight? Don't know much about this model. Common problem?

Real possibility that the firing pin is broken or jammed.
There may be more trouble, but that is your first best shot to inspect.
If you get lucky, you'll just need to unjam or replace the pin.

The early version that I just inspected uses the firing pin tip as the ejector by striking a spring-loaded plunger mounted at the rear of the frame at the last fraction of pump stroke. When the tip extends into the fired case, the extractor holding on the right has a levering effect when the other side of the rim is flipped out of the bolt face groove.

Remember that older mechanisms can have old lube that inhibits proper operation. Another guy was posting that working a friend's new acquisition (a Winchester Model-12) was like pumping a shock absorber- now that's entertainment... I mean thickened grease!
