Just Colt, and older Remington Rand, Ithaca. Now the Norinco Chinese model is solid machined steel and a great frame and slide for building a nice custom range toy.

S&W does not, but there are several companies making steel Commander(ish) sized 1911's.

as to Dan Wesson CBOB.....
that's how this started for me. I had just decided to buy one when the price jumped from around $1000 to $1300 and rising.
I am eligible for the Smith and Wesson LE discount so i started looking at their commander size 1911s. They seem to get good reviews.
They do make a scandium/stainless mdl# 108310
and a scandium/carbon steel mdl# 108283

springfield armory champion is the best all steal commander for the money IMO. :)

I have a Colt 1991a1 Combat commander in all stainless steel - really like it! Basic no frills 1911, superbly built and assembled, and a great shooter. Runs perfectly right out of the box, or serves as a solid platform for mods if desired (thus far the only one I'm thinking of is some night sights, but I'm just going to shoot it as is for awhile more before I make any changes).

Don't get confused with the S&W models. The 108310 is not a Commander sized 1911, it is CCO size. It has a Commander slide group on an Officer size frame. It carries one round less than a Government/Commander pistol.

S&W also has Commander sized 108304 which is the Gunsite model, 108296 with Crimson Trace laser grips, and 408283 that looks identical to the 108283 PD.

Springfield, Kimber, and all the Armscor Commander(ish) pistols have a 4" barrel and don't use a bushing. Colt, S&W, Dan Wesson, Les Baer, Ed Brown have true Commander length 4 1/4" barrels and use a bushing. Most use the short GI guide rod.

If any of that makes a difference to you.
