Hello All,
Somewhere around here I have a 20 year old thin papercover book called
"Slash & Thrust" by John Sanchez --- a really good book and I recommend it highly if it can still be found.

In it , the author has good diagrams with each one labled such as "Bleeders" and then shows by shadeing the area where a Slash or Thrust would cause a lot/massive bleeding and then a "time table" where a avg. size adult would become unconscious and/or death.

Other diagrams shown that I can recall were "Immobilizers" where large muscle groups ,tendons, or nerves were close to the body surface and if hit with a Slash or Thrust , that area would become immobilized.

The last diagram I recall was a " Quick Kill " and as the name implies , a Slash or Thrust would cause instant or very quick death.

I remember showing it to Datu Glen Dahms many years ago , he had never seen any like it and he had me make copies of all the diagrams and then added it to his handbook for his students.

Just wondering if anyone else has this book and what are your thoughts on it.

NEWS FLASH ---- I just did a Net search and it still looks to be available !!!

Wow. Sounds a bit gruesome, but useful to know. Of course the skeptic in me wonders how valid the diagrams might be medically speaking. I might pick this up and show it to an MD friend to find out.

Best to have a trauma or ER doc take a look since they're very familiar with the types of injuries and wounding.

If you look at the WWII era stuff by Fairbairn, Sykes or Applegate.... I ran across just such a document in an article discussing Fairbairn's work with the OSS in WWII. Included a diagram with estimated bleed-out times. Probably the original source of the info you remember.
