G26 vs G27 with conversion barrel?

I thought I had my mind made up on a G26. I originally wanted something bigger than 9mm but since 9mm was so cheap I decided I'd go with that. Now that I see you can get conversion barrels for a G27 I'm not sure if I want the G26 anymore. Are there any issues that the G27s have? Reliability is my number one important thing. Another question I had is will the poi be the same with a 9mm conversion barrel and the stock 40 caliber barrel? Since they are fixed sights I don't want to have to adjust the sights when changing barrels. Due to the cost of ammo I'd probably shoot 9mm 90% of the time but I think it would be nice to be able to carry 40 s&w rounds as I'm just not sure I have complete faith in 9mm. Since you all now know what I want and my concerns which would be the better choice?

Never had a failure with my G27 in many thousands of rounds in either stock config or with LW 9mm conversion barrel

I have changed nothing except the barrel and have a couple thousand rounds fired in 9mm w/o any failure. Using 40 cal mags, they feed the 9mm fine as long as you don't throw a fully loaded 40 cal mag onto the floor in which case it might spit out a couple 9mm rounds.

I don't carry in 9mm config - the drop in is strictly for range use and I put the 27 back into 40 cal config prior to leaving the range.

POI is not affected by the conversion barrel for me - at least not at the 25 yd distances I shoot at

If it's for carry, go with the .40 S&W. I was debating the same thing, and also considered the conversion barrel as well. The price per box isn't significantly more money, but I'm not shooting thousands of rounds per month. YMMV.

Get the G27. I have shot my G23 and G27 with the .40-9MM barrel a few thousand times. It works great.

I do the same as Four Knives, practice with the 9MM and carry the .40S&W. Now that I re load I only shoot .40S&W.

I got the G27. I felt that the 40 offered more for a self defense round. (YMMV)

I then found I could get the Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel. I bought it and a couple of the 9mm magazines and now I use it for a training gun. It lets some students practice with a milder round, not quite as intimidating. Some folks will tell you that you need to swap the extractor out, I didn't.

That said - even with newbies shooting a small (and perhaps difficult to master) pistol I have never had any problems with the 9mm conversion.

Next on the the list is a 357 sig barrel. I never had one of those before!! ;)

Here is a link about this from an "expert"...

It isn't exactly about a G27 conversion, but there is a lot of information on what you are asking about...

Hope that helps!

I have a 27 with a Lone Wolf 9m/m conversion...both work just fine.

Thinking about getting an extended .357 just for fun...see how fast and flat it can shoot.
