Picked up my new and first beretta today. I love it! It is a very high quality peice... probably the nicest I own. I can't wait to shoot it tomorrow night. I will probably use a couple hundred CCI Standards to break her in. Any suggestions are very welcome! Range report to follow... P.S... Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics...

:what: is it just me or is that gun supposed to be tiny??

Or do you have really huge hands?

Not huge hands, but I can palm a basketball....

The gun is built on the cheetah frame, which is compact. With the extra 1/2 inch or so the mag extension gives you, it actually feels really comfortable to me! It's about the same length grip my Mark III had, just way slimmer (new grips are on the way)...

Despite ample lube (CLP), my 87T exhibited pretty frequent FTRBs in the first 1000 rounds or so. With the pistol in firing position, its not always obvious that this has occured. The hammer will drop with the slide being 1/8" or so out of battery, and occasionally these hammer drops are hard enough to set off the round with the accompanying fireworks and brass shower. It hasn't done it recently, so apparently the slide needed a little wearing-in.

The factory wood grips with thumb rest were a welcome addition and something you might consider.

With the teething problems behind, its a great pistol and always attracts attention at the range. "What in the heck is that??" being the typical comment.

Haha. That was my first thought too. I've never seen any size comparison pics of an 87 and just assumed they were larger. You learn something new everyday..... or EGGMAN is a lying giant.

As I said, I can palm a basketball... Not super hands, but also not the size hands of the guy in the new BK commercial... The thing would look like a desert eagle in his hands!

I am 6'2, 300 though... Oh well, big guy, little gun!

It is the priciest pistol I have bought so far... Then again, the record may be beat when I acquire a 1911...

These usually go for ~$800...

I have the regular 87 and it is a great little gun. Top notch quality. I am 6'1" 250 lbs and it fit & shot very well in my hand. Best is that I found it NIB for 400.

Hee hee! I originally thought it was a much larger gun, too. I knew it was based on the Cheetah frame and I knew the published dimensions, but for some reason I had it in my mind that it would be the size of a long slide 92. When I finally found a local dealer with one in stock, I went there with the intention of buying it. While waiting for the salesman to finish with another customer, I browsed through the rimfire case and completely passed it over as I was expecting something much larger. The salesman eventually got to me and pulled out the 87T when I asked if they had it in stock. I was shocked at how small it was. It was comfortable enough to hold but I ended up not buying it due to the size.
