I recently went to purchase some guns from someone and they pulled out this very nice rifle. I was wondering is this a custom job? I couldnt find a picture of this certain rifle anywhere, and was wondering a possible price on this certain gun. here are some pictures.
for some reason I can only put down one picture at a time I will try to put down more if I can

I'm not sure about this particular rifle, but it looks alot like some of the rifles from the Weatherby custom shop. If you go to their website you can see some of them. A few of them go as high as $7,000.

NICE!!!
go to weatherby's site, give them the serial number, and they will research it for you. i have a few additional questions for you...does the barrel say anything related to made in germany? or elsewhere? is it a right hand or left hand model? can the current owner give some idea of its' provenance (documented/verifiable history)?
if this is going for a decent price, go for it. weatherbys are fine rifles. if you are selling it, please PM me...it seems to be calling my name...

Looks like an older Weatherby custom shop gun to me. Great caliber, German actions are great, thats an older inexpensive scope that looks out of place on that $1500 used gun.Prolly cost close to $3K when it was made. Obviously super grade pre 64 Winchester mod 70's were better investments!

Thanks for all the advice. I will go to the weatherby website and give them the serial number and find out more about it. I canot find much about the gun in terms of origin im afraid, it was a widow who was selling her husbands guns who had died back in 1993. I myself picked up a colt python 357 8 inch blue and a S&W 44 magnum model 29 stainless 8 3/8.
I told her I would find out about some of her guns, and told her that something that gorgeous should be kept in the family and not sold for any price, I hope she puts it on display because the pictures don't do it justice, so i'm sorry vasilia, it's not for sale.
sorry I don't have any pictures that tell what country it is made in, it is a right hand model

hey, no problem on 'not for sale'. it IS a beautiful piece, and from what little i know of weatherbys in general, it is a very worthy heirloom to be kept in a family...
it does look like a custom stock - i hope your friend will keep it & cherish it. there is a blue book of gun values you can buy, which may help also, once you figure out what year it was made. an appraisal in my area is roughly $30 - it may do to get an appraiser, if the collection is large. here's a link to a free demo version of blue book:

if you want a good appraiser, i highly recommend Mark Rayfield. He works for Dunn's sporting goods in missouri. I will forward info upon your request.
i'd say the prior poster whom said $1500 was pretty on target, and also agreed the scope does look look out of place. it rates a leupold, LOL!
see ya. let us know how it goes...
