You jerks better not let me down

:D
After a ridiculously long amount of research I finally purchased a handgun today. I have not seen this gun in person (CZ P-01) but with all of the great reviews I've seen on this gun from all of you (armoredman in particular) I decided to buy it semi-impulsively. I wanted one but the price was prohibitive (mostly because I'm very cheap). However topgunsupplys is selling them in the Buy Sell Trade forum for 477.00 shipped to an FFL. Having held a CZ75 fullsize and loving it I couldn't really resist. I'll be sure to give a range report when it arrives.

I wouldn't jerk you around. Shot mine again today, no failures, as usual, hit the target where I was aiming, as usual. :)

Once you jerk off a few rounds downrange, you'll find that new P-01 to be as nice of a pistol as CZ has ever made-and, as you know, they've made a lot of nice ones.

From all the great reviews I've seen I'm really excited to shoot it. Its probably the only pistol I would have bought sight unseen.

You should ask CZ if you can get a percentage on the sale armoredman since you definitely opened my eyes to the P-01 (and I'm sure a lot of other peoples eyes to).

Those are dangerous! You'll shoot the target's eyes out. You better let me store that in my house and vault. I be sure to shoot it frequently so it doesn't get lonesome. :)

:D Oh yeah...Congrats!! Guess I should tell you, I was gonna call you tomorrow and offer you one of my Colts for free. Course, seein's how ya have a pistola now, you won't be needin' that Colt. :neener:

Anyhow, WELCOME to the world of CZ.

I have both. The BHP is a lot skinnier, the P01 is a lot lighter. I'm not giving up either one. :D

I just looked at the PCR and it looks nice to. What exactly are the differences? Is it just the sights and that the PCR is a hair lighter?
Ahhh I just looked it up and saw that the PCR doesn't have a rail. I don't really think I'm ever going to use the rail so maybe I should have gone with the PCR... but I'm not even close to disappointed in my choice (of course its in the mail atm but hopefully that won't change upon arrival).

That was my own reason for choosing it (which I like very much, BTW).

Another difference not apparent to the naked eye is that the PCR's frame is cast while the P-01's is forged (both are aluminum alloy).

P0-1 is as fine a pistol as is made I, too, did a ton of research, then when I handled one for the first time, I bought it on the spot, to the utter shock of my spouse who thought I'd need at least 6 mos. to make up my mind!

2,500 rounds later, it just keeps shooting where I point it, any ammo, w/o a burp or a hitch of any kind.

And we CZ guys have to be much smarter than Glock guys, remember all those testimonials from Glock owners about how they "dropped their Glock in the mud and it still shot fine"? CZ people don't drop their arms in the mud , instead we can rely on objective testing to establish our weapon's reliability!

armoredman
March 7, 2010, 09:06 PM
Smarter, well, I wouldn't denigrate all Glock people like that...
I do like when a major police Dept drops Glock and goes with CZ...and yes, that did happen.

I've had several CZ P01s. All were fine pistols. However, I have no use for a rail on a handguns so I have sold all my P01s. I still have two CZ PCRs though.

Here's a picture of one of them.

Best regards.

CZF
March 8, 2010, 07:44 AM
Thia national police. Philip. national police, aand a few more for 2010 as the testing
continues and depts upgrade existing CZ contracts or replace old arms with new CZeds.

As for the PCR. my wife dearly loves hers.
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb26/czrami/PCR-NITES/PCR-NITES-2.jpg
We are now Glock free! (anyone need Glock annuals, posters and Glock memorabilia?)
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb26/czrami/PCR-NITES/slide33.jpg
The PCR served the Czech police and others for many years until the P-01
came along and passed even stricter testing.
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb26/czrami/PCR/PCR-M-8.jpg
The same platform (P-01)has also been modified to .40 caliber (P-06) that
has been a huge success for CZUB and CZ-USA in this country.

http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb26/czrami/CZ%20PICS/339.jpg
Basically, if you don't need a light or laser on your gun, the PCR is
the one to have.
http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb26/czrami/PCR-NITES/PCR-NITES-1.jpg
Some dedicated PCR fans think it's the very best CZ made, esp. for CCW.

I am one of the few that really didn't care for the P01. My hands are on the large side and my little finger would rest halfway on the mag baseplate. The curved trigger is annoying and it really needed a trigger job.

That's why I have a CZ 75BD.:p

huduguru, yes, that is sadly ironic. BUT, they will be testing the P-07 for thier issue as well, as well as the Czech National Police.
Yes, the Phillipene National Police just started the process of switching from the Glock to the CZ P07, 118,000 officer department.

Only one unit of the Czech army uses the Glock...
So it really hasn't spread like wildfire through the ranks.

Others use the CZ82 and 75B.

The VZ58 is still in service with all units.

I have three CZs. Two 75Bs, one stainless the other with black polycoat. The black one is an older version with rounded trigger guard and spur hammer. Number 3 is a PCR and it's my current house gun.

When I was at the gun shop deciding between the P-01 and PCR the rail was the deciding factor. I don't use a rail and the PCR looked trimmer without the full length dust cover so it followed me home.

About 1000 Glocks were bought for 601. skss to replace old vz.82 (9mm Mak.), CZ75 is kinda rare coz´army didnt care for handguns until just recently. And some noncomabatant units even use vz.52 .. from what i heard.
About rifles: Few guys had M4 Bushmaster in A-stan, as they were conforming to US units they served with..

CZF, it is true that as far as I know, only one unit uses G-17's but
that unit is a special forces unit which probably fires many more
rounds per trooper than other units. I am assuming that they are a Green
Beret or Seal type of unit(not as good though:)) .

I never understood all the hoopla about "who uses such and such pistol" in the military, cant we judge pistols based on the value of the PISTOL itself? Not who uses it?

When I pick up my CZ and fire off a few hundred rounds, I make my OWN evaluation of

I got the pistol today and so far its everything I hoped it would be. i was worried that the grip would be too short or not as comfortable to me as the full-size but that isn't a problem. I still have it wrapped up in the cellophane or whatever it came in though since I'm going to be moving in a couple of weeks and want to wait until I'm settled in to get at it. Again thanks to everyone for making me aware of this (so far) great pistol.

Awesome! range report when you get out there man!! now all you need are either Crimson Trace lasergrips on it or some pretty factory CZ wood grips on it.

Thanks for the links. For now though I think I'm going to keep the stock grips. I'm not especially interested in putting anything on the rail either. I discovered after i had already ordered the pistol that I probably would have preferred the PCR since it's about the same gun minus the rail, but it's not like its a big mistake i regret or anything :D

I might have to put some of those coco bolos on it eventually though, they are pretty nice looking.

You need to fire 500 rnds through a CZ before it is "combat effective" / broken in. CZ makes real tight tolerances and the rail system is internal, those parts need to worn in to avoid hassles.

The two CZ's I have owned kept shooting better and better until about the 2,000 rnd marker, then the leveled off. Excellent piece. Enjoy
