Anyone know the answer to this, been reading and the Jarheads, Ex-Navy here, have been thinking of a new round, 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC, what makes the Creedmoor 6.5 diff. from 6.5 Grendel?? thanks much

Ron

6.5 creedmore is based on a longer case that the 6.5 grendel. The grendel is roughly based on a 7.62x39 case necked down to 6.5mm. The Creedmore is similar to a necked down 7.62.51, and therefore has a longer cartridge length, requires a longer action, and won't fit in a AR-15 magwell. On the other hand, both the 6.8 spc and the 6.5 grendel fit in an AR-15 magwell.

Creedmore = more power than the grendel (no AR)
6.5x47 = more power than the creedmore (no AR)
260 = about the best in a short action bolt (no AR) for the money - brass, dies, power, accuracy

They would all work in a AR-10

You seem to have overlooked the 6.5 MPC (multi purpose cartridge) (http://forum.novarata.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=548)

6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC (and the 6.5 MPC and 6mm-223) are not in the same class as the 6.5 Creedmoor and the .260 Remington simply because the former are made to fit in an AR-15 action while the latter are the same length as .308 and thus have a lot more powder capacity and long-range performance.

Here's an article on the longer ones:

How about a 6.5 WSSM?
