As many folks know, our friend and THR member Tony "AussieTH" passed away last year which meant that the exquisite collection of revolvers that he had purchased here in the U.S. couldn't be shipped to Australia.

Several of them were sold on Gunbroker but the remaining guns have been brought to the Poulin Auction Company in Maine, an associate of Julia Auctions where they are scheduled to be sold to the highest bidder on the weekend of March 13th and 14th.

Here's the THR thread with a close look at many (but not all) of the revolvers that are up for auction. There are also pictures of each revolver on the auction link pages that follow.

Hi Arcticap,

I was wondering how his wife is doing? Please update us on how his family is doing. It was such a sad story of his passing when he was in the middle of a project that he was so involved in. His wife is fortunate he has friends like you to watch out for his investments and not take advantage of his unfortunate passing. You deserve a big thanks from the entire black powder shooting community for your honesty and compassion to a friend.

His wife Kay wrote:

Firstly convey my sincerest thanks to the guys for the posts on the high road forums very much appreciated and am sure he has looked and smiled to his friends.

Tony and Kay were together for 41 years so the whole ordeal was very painful for her too. They were a close couple and she still misses Tony very much.
She worked as a nurse for most of her life and now she has pretty much decided to retire.
They were situated in a more rural outback area and she's committed to staying there and taking care of the household & property. She enjoys the scenery and wildlife and and she's very content there.

Don't know the people involved but he certainly put together some nice pieces. Surely this is what Heaven looks like...a 500,000 sq ft gun store with plenty of Colts and a golf course just outside.

The folks who bid on and won Tony's pistols that were up for auction received some excellent deals.
I'm listing the "hammer prices" which represents the last bid at the time when the auctioneer's hammer fell signifying that each pistol was sold.
The listed prices don't include the buyer's fee, shipping or the sales tax in some cases.
The buyer's fee adds an additional 15% if paying by cash or check or 17% if paying with a credit card.
They had absentee bidding which simply involved submitting a maximum bid for each item, and they also had live telephone bidding which involved pre-authorizing a telephone agent to bid up to a maximum amount for you in advance. Then about 5 minutes before the item comes up, the telephone agent would phone the bidder right from the auction floor to accept increased bids if that becomes neccessary to win the item.
And bids were still being accepted up until the end of the last day before the auction.
I won a .22lr target pistol using the telephone bidding method and the bidding didn't even reach the maximum amount that I had pre-authorized the agent to bid up to.
When they called me on the phone, I could hear the auctioneer in the background moving through items very quickly and taking bids from the floor. The bids would go up and then suddenly the item would be sold and then the auctioneer rapidly moved on to the next item.
If someone wanted to bid on an item live either from the floor or by telephone there wasn't any time to hesitate.
Any & all comments concerning the final hammer prices and the final outcome of this auction are certainly welcome. :)
