I know that it is not necessary, but I want to put a bayonet lug on my Mav 88. I should be able to order my short barrel today after work.

I've looked all over and I'm not finding a lug that sates "Mossberg 500" or "Maverick 88".

Anyone got any suggestions for websites? I've hit my usuals (CTD, google, sportsmans guide), but like I said, I'm not finding anything.

I know I could order some of the "candidates" and just send them back, but I thought I's poll you folks an see what washed up... If I have to make an internet buy off of MY knowledge alone, I'll go to my local dealer and let him overcharge me.

I guess it's like underwear in the fact that I would feel more comfortable trying them on in the store ;)

Edit: should have probably posted this in accesories country...sorry, mods...

If you plan to mount a bayonet, you'll need a top attach, too. The lug alone won't do it. The common method is to use a turned down take down screw or mag tube cap as the top attach, in which case the short barrel alone won't do it. The top attach simulates the rifle barrel the bayonet would mount on. You'd need a full length tube ie a Persuader 8 shot, find a turned down take down screw, and then attach the bayonet lug.

In any case, a bayonet lug is simply a clamp on device. One barrel is the same as any other. Unless it's designed specifically to fit one barrel's contour, there really is no brand specificity.
