I just took my dear ol' dad gun shopping last weekend for a Kahr PM9. He wants something for CCW and has settled on the PM9. Checked 2 stores. Both out. Both said they had orders pending for a couple of months already, but they haven't gotten any shipments. Budsgunshop.com is sold out of every model as well.

What is going on?

Yes, I have seen some on gunbroker, but not for good prices. Why buy online for the same price as a store where you can hold it and inspect it.

I have a PM9 and love it, as do most people I've met who own one ... I'm guessing they can't keep up with demand, especially now that everybody is laying in a supply of "Obama" guns and ammo ... order one and be patient, they're worth the wait ...

Because the guy that started the thread posted this:

If they don't have it the price doesn't matter, does it?:uhoh:

I'm currently selling Kahr PM9's for $199 (with a buy one, get one free special today only). Of course this price is only valid for in stock items and I'm currently out of stock on the PM9's.;):D

I see them every once in a while locally used more than new. I got mine used for a very good price ($520) considering it's the black stainless/night sight version and it was barely used. The shop I bought it at said they can't keep the PM or CW series in stock because they sell within a few days of coming in. I would suggest to keep checking or if you are friendly with any of the stores (local variety) see if they can email you if they are getting one in.

Also, PM9's rock.

It is a great little gun (after the bugs were worked out of it), but I had no idea they were that popular.

If there is a Gander Mountain nearby, thy them. I ordered one through them and had it in my hot little hands in less than a week. That was just two weeks ago. Love the gun, easy to conceal and a great shooter.

I just bought an M&P and a P250 for comparison (both in 9), but at the price you are offering I'll extend my gun budget and pick up another two of those. :)

If you're ready to buy, I'd get on this now before it goes away. Local seller, too, and an AWESOME price!!

My dad doesn't mind waiting for the PM9. He's not into guns quite like we are. I was just surprised they were all out of stock and how hard one of the stores said they were to get. I had no problem getting mine a few months ago.

Very popular carry gun - without paying the big bucks for a Rohrbaugh, it is about the smallest carry gun in 9mm that you can find ANYWHERE. Good luck, wise choice. (Remember, with the Kahrs, there is about a 500 round break-in period before the gun starts shooting very reliably.)

It's a great little pistol. I got one earlier this week and took it out for a quick 50 rounds. Ran like a champ with no issues. I am really impressed with it!!

Shooting 500 rounds before it becomes reliable should be factored into the costs if that were true. That would make it 100 or so dollars away from the R9.

Kahr's need a 200 round break in.
I would personally put 200 rounds through any gun I planned to carry anyway so I don't consider that an issue.

I purchased mine new about two years ago at a local sporting goods store. It's a standard model without the night sights, and it still had the older style plastic magazine release with the metal insert. It was a post recall model, but it was a little tighter than normal, which I didn't like. However I hemmed and hawed and they dropped the price to $525, so I took it. They told me this was about their cost, as it had been sitting there for awhile. This was around the time Kahr had their 2008 price increase.

I expected it would jam for awhile until it broke in, but with about 150-200rds through it now, it hasn't jammed yet. I emailed Kahr for the new metal magazine release about a year ago and they sent the part out for free. It was a bit of a PITA to install, but I got it in eventually. The new release works good. I checked out a VD serialed model with night sights at a local shop about a year ago and it looked pretty nice. They wanted $770 for it though, which is just too much. All the newer guns, VC, VD, IA, IB and on up seem to be really nice more refined guns than the earlier models.

I had the same problem when I got ready to buy my Kahr PM9. No one had any in stock within 2 hours of my location. I finally took the plunge and bought one without actually getting to hold it. I'm glad I did.

Anytime Kahr's come up in forums, the "reliability" issue always comes into play. To offer reassurance to anyone leary of buying a Kahr, let me share this. My Kahr was one of those that had problems. It was having FTE and FTF's. Kahr's customer service was excellent. I sent it in to them, they polished the feed ramp, changed out the spring and sent a free 7 round magazine back with it. I haven't had any problems since. It's my EDC, and I'm secure in carrying it.

22 responses and No Moonie Cracks ! I think Kahr's reliability is no longer a issue as people have become familiar with there loading practice of using the slide lock on the first round from the magazine ( Althouh My IA model now lets Me rack the slide after 1,700 issue free rounds ). I had the LGS order Mine. 2 weeks later it was there. I to no longer feel it while I have it IWB and the trigger works for Me to now that I got use to it...WVleo

disagree. my (only one sample) PM40 manufactured in 2008 was a piece of crap. After I shipped it to karh, on my own dime, it came back a piece of crap.

Sportmen's Warehouse took it back.

The PM40 is a different animal.

I've often heard that said, but I've never done that with any of my Kahr's. If I had to do that everytime, I probably wouldn't trust the gun at all.

I've don't use the slide lock to chamber either. I just practiced a little to get used to the fact you have release at the rear most point with very little leeway. You can't half-ass it like a Glock and expect it to chamber a round off a full mag.

I was told that Kahrs are approved for off duty use by NYPD. Can anyone confirm or deny this ?

The steel K9 has been, but this info is several years old.
