85-15% in favor, not surprising. Americans love their guns.

I guess they didn't like the poll results - they are now experiencing "technical difficulties."

Doesn't matter what the Court does; as in D.C., the powers that be will figure out a way to keep "certain people" (liberal codespeak for blacks) from [legally] owning guns. The "liberal establlishment" got the hell scared out of it in 1968 and quick passed a Federal law that was designed to keep blacks from buying guns, and that has been the real reason for just about every U.S. gun control law before or since. Citizens with guns might not "know their place" and vote the way "de Massa" tells them to.

Could you please give an example of these racist gun laws?

Ben86
March 14, 2010, 01:40 AM
Actually the first gun control laws came about after the civil war to prevent freed slaves from arming themselves. Modern gun control laws frequently target poor black residential areas. The laws aren't outright racist anymore, but they do indirectly target poor and legally undereducated minorities.

Gun buy backs in poor neighborhoods is a prime example of the government not trusting its lower class citizens with guns.

Warhawk83
March 14, 2010, 07:38 PM
I always thought gun buybacks were because the gov didn't trust anyone with

guns. They haven't gotten around the good old Constitution yet.

Poor neighborhoods, in general, equal a higher instance of crime. Holding a

buyback in these neighborhoods would be smart if it were the criminals turning

in the guns, probably not the case though. Gun control came about (in modern

times) because two Kennedy's (Political Power) were killed.

When the anti gunners are funded by George Soros' deep pockets, they will continue to come up with one ridiculous code/law/policy etc. If the NRA or other pro gun organizations have to fight every little township and city throughout the U.S., well it will simply bankrupt them -- IMHO. The people have spoken so clearly on this issue in support of 2nd amendment rights and these local politician and community leaders simply just don't care. The media is at the very least a large part of the problem.

No, but that's OK. Here in Australia these online polls used to be held on a regular basis. If the result went against shooters it was trumpeted in the 'current affairs' shows as proof of the need to ban guns.
If shooters swamped the poll it quietly went away.
So what we are doing here is removing a propoganda tool from the antis hands.
Consider it a necessary defensive skirmish in the greater war for gun rights.

Mayor Daly and several Chicago politicians are pushing for the state to adopt some of Chicago's gun ban ordinances; begining with "assault" weapons. That way if SCOTUS does find against Chicago in McDonald v. Chicago, the verdict will be meaningless since Illinois state law is not under the jurisdiction of this ruling.

The specific question being addressed by SCOTUs is wether the 2nd ammendment is incorporated against the states through the privileges and immunities or due process clause of the 14th ammendment. A ruling in favour of McDonald will restrict the states. All states.

DWFan
March 23, 2010, 01:33 AM
Radagast, as it was explained to me, the City of Chicago is the defendant here, not the State of Illinois. Although the ruling will set a precedent, it does not directly effect the state any more than ruling against Chicago automatically renders ordinances in New York City or San Francisco invalid. It would be up to the court to decide the how far the ruling reaches and possibly require that individual lawsuits be brought against other cities/states to repeal gun ban legislation.

of course this was "a defensive exercise" I have seen no report of the poll results to date. DWfan: The sheer number of Amicus briefs on McDonald indicate the potential reach of this ruling. Just as Heller spawned this suit, this will spawn others in various courts and the idea is to have a National reciprocity and very very limited restrictions on "the right of the people"

warhawk,
JPFO has a very nice video available talking about the attempts to keep guns from African Americans, here is a link http://www.jpfo.org/filegen-n-z/ngn-download-view.htm it's pretty interesting, I learned a lot from it.
