Do I need to tighten loose lever on Iver Special Trap?

My Iver Special Trap works great but the lever to open the action is definately loose.

Should I care?

Should I have it tightened?

Who can do the work?

Is there a good chance that a smith could wreck the gun while trying to tighten the lever?

Is this an example of if it ain't broke don't fix it?

Depends on what you mean by "loose". That lever helps keep the gun locked up so it won't open during firing. When my Browning started doing that (after about 90,000 rounds), it was time for a new top lever spring.

IF your smith knows shotguns, AND he can get the part, it shouldn't be difficult.
