I just got 350 rounds of Yugoslavian 7.62x25 in from MidwayUSA. It came in 5 boxes of 70 rounds each. The boxes are in excellent shape and the ammo looks like it's been stored well, e.g., the brass is nice and shiny with no verdigris. It was made in 1954, the same year as my CZ-52. I am aware that this ammo is corrosively primed and will clean my CZ accordingly.

Have any of you tried it? How was it for reliability and accuracy?

I would expect (and hope) that ballistically it is good ... just not tried it yet.

So far have been using the S&B stuff ... which goes well ... and am saving brass for reloading later.

Shot some of a friends once. Found about 1 in 8 did not fire on the first strike. All of them did on the second, though.

Unfortunately, my friend didn't know it was corrosive at the time.

I've run about 350 rounds through my CZ-52 and like it. Had the misfiring problems mentioned with mine at first too. Not nearly as bad as some Czech bxn 53 that came in 40 round boxes on 8 round strippers but the occasional round needed two strikes to fire. Doesn't seem to have as much muzzle flash as the Czech ammo either.

Found that my firing pin safety was not releasing the pin fully and limiting the depth of the strike. After a touch of the grinder to allow a bit more pin protrusion the Midway ammo has been pretty reliable.

My gun has a Wolff 18.5lb recoil spring and functions very reliably with the Yugo stuff but I must confess that I am not very accurate with it. No fault of gun or ammo. Operator error for sure.

Just wonder too, if the Jugo is corrosive then prolly berdan too .... never found the small pistol primer size berdans to have quite the reliability of boxer somehow. Had apparent ''light strike'' FTF's before with 9mm for example.

I recently bought a large batch of Yugo 8mm rifle ammo and noticed that the primers seem to be seated deeper than flush. I wonder if that is a characteristic of all Yugo surplus? If so it would explain why you had to modify the firing pin safety...
