Walmart said no to buying ammo! I told them what for

March 13, 2010, 02:09 PM
I go to walmart today to pick up some shotgun ammo, I go to the sporting goods. I wait, so I go get someone because noone hardly works in sporting goods. They call once for me. No one, I have waited about 8 mins about now. I go to another counter and ask to call again. Then a mannager walks by this counter and the guy calls him over and I ask I need help in sportin goods to buy ammo for a gun. He says you need to buy 21 to buy ammo, I said no you need to be 18 to buy long rifle and shotgun only 21 for pistol. I go back there and this other guy is in line for SHOTGUN ammo I was going to buy and it rang up as is he 21 or older? so the manger says no. :banghead:  This cant be I said to myself! I am goin to the bigger manager. I go to the front I speak to the head manager I guess. He walks be back and sells me ammo. I was so mad I bought the limit of 6 boxes :neener: :D

Waitted over 40 mins to get in and out!

This was the first time I had hassle like this.

Has anyone else have problems like this at walmart? only reason I buy my ammo from them is because the nearest gunstore is 30-40 mins away!

They are just doing what they feel is necessary to comply with a stupid and confusing law. It will get easier when you turn 21. :)

Has anyone else have problems like this at walmart?
I turned 21 over 30 years ago. :p

It was kind of hard understanding what your problem was. Try to calm down before you rant. You will find your spelling will be better if you just give yourself a little break.

Oh and walmart sucks that way.

Hard understanding me? I didn't make spelling errors??? maybe the , and .

Relax, kid. The Wal Mart know-it-all's think they have all of us by the short hairs. Most of the sales clearks around her have only seen a gun once in their lives & don't understand what the big deal is about enjoying our sport.

If you can reload, you can avoid the 18-21 age issues with Walmart. ;)

Yes. Spelling, inconsistent tense, punctuation, and grammar errors.
Not ragging on you. Just, answering your question.

That being said, sorry for your bad experience. Honestly, people don't go to Wal-Mart for the customer service. You get what you pay for.

need to buy 21 to buy ammo
So did you buy 21?
sportin goods
That would be sporting (with a G).
I am goin
Again, going (with a G).
He talks be back
Did you mean "walks me back" ?

Syntax, run on sentences, punctuation. If graded for English, your post would flunk. :D

If I can be of any further obstinence, don't hestitate to ask!

LOL I am 35 and i had trouble. Course it was totally different. I walked up to the counter, there is a young guy cleaning the glass on the case around the shotguns.

Went like this:
ME: "Excuse me. Do you have any S&W 40 ammo in stock?"
EMP: "Yes" - turns away from me, goes back to cleaning.
ME: "Do you have FMJ and/or JHP?"
EMP: "Yes" - turns away, back to cleaning.
ME: "I would like 3 boxes of FMJ, and if you would not mind can you show me what JHPs you have in stock?"
EMP: "OK." Gives me the 3 boxes, pulls 1 JHP round out shows me, turns around and continues cleaning.
ME: "Look, I am sorry you are having to take care of a customer. If I am troubling you I would be glad to go up front, get a manager and get HIM to take care of me. How about we cut this short, you give me 3 boxes of the JHP you showed me, RING these up and lets get on with our lives."

At this he turns pale white and gets a scared look on his face. So he rings me up. At this point he became VERY friendly. "I got a ton of 9mm back here. If you know anyone looking let them know. We should be getting more S&W 40 in 2 days so check back then and I can get you even more."

Couple other things with that dude, until he turned friendly, the tone of his voice was very "your bothering me" type. He sounded and LOOKED very annoyed that I was asking him anything. if you had been there to see his mannerisms and hear the voice, he was really not into helping anyone out.

I also know Walmart is bottom of the barrel in my area. They pay far less than any other store so they get usually the lesser employees. Their cashiers as the slowest, rudest around. If their prices were not dirt cheap I would not shop there for anything.

That pay rate gives employees little to no incentive to learn or double check things like laws around sales of their products and if they do not know they will just go to "No!" to be safe. Would be NICE if they kept a copy of the law at the desk for those guys to look at in cases such as yours. I imagine that was VERY frustrating.

My personal favorite is where they accuse people of stealing (that is what I call checking receipts and bags as I leave the store). I usually walk around the people doing it (they have 40+ registers (at least 10-15 are open any given time) and 1 poor old woman who needs to check receipts for everyone leaving). She usually has a line a mile long. I just walk around it and out the door. I try to be as nice as I can but I tell her, "I am not waiting in another line. If you think I am stealing, call the police. I will chat with them, and be done before that guy (the last one in the receipt line) is up here ot see you." LOL.

yes btg3. I didn't see that. My error :(

I remember going to sams club and they have a mile long line just to leave.

Yup...and sadly, that "dude's" attitude will keep him in a job like that for rest of his life, unless he changes it.

This is just an Internet forum. Not the SAT's... who cares?

:what:A walmart horror story thread. Never seen one of these before on the Internet... ever.

I don't understand why people shop at wally world and and post about their bad experience. Like it has never happened before ever. I mean there must be 617,571,216 posts on how bad someone got treated at wally world on the net.

Who cares about spelling and grammar here? I care. If any members need help with their writing skills, I will gladly help.

The biggest problem I have with threads and rants like this: No one sits down with these persons at WalMart to help clarify laws regarding sales of ammunition. We act so high and mighty because we're gun owners, but don't help folks with lesser knowledge. At the shooting range we will gladly help someone, but not at the store.

incomplete sentence--
glass house casting stones are we??

its a wal-mart story, not a for credit english essay. fursure

Wow, won't the grammar nazis go ruin someone else's thread? I had no problem understanding what his problem was, it's clear enough.

This has happened to me before with inexperienced/mentally challenged Wal-Mart staff. I have even had them tell me I had to show ID to by matte black spray paint, but not gloss black spray paint of the same brand. If the computer tells them something they are unlikely to go against it/think for themselves in any way in my experience.

Amen, Runningman. Another Walmart thread. You ought to know what to expect when you come in the door, if you don't, go some where else! These people aren't paid to know the difference between 12 Ga. and .22. What do you expect?

I dedicate this thread closure to Justin, who loves WalMart threads even more than petty grammatical arguments.
