I'm curious if you use the little chevron icon to close forum sections do they still actually load even though they're unseen.

I'm trying to get my setting optimized for mobile use.

Unfortunately, yes they still load. You can see that they do by re-opening a section - all of the info is available instantly without reloading anything from the server.
