out of my mossberg maverick 88 with an 18.5 inch barrell. Any reason why I shouldn't?

If your barrel says 3" chamber on it?
No reason atall.
If your shoulder can take it, so can the gun.

Listed on the Maverick Arms website:
88™ model barrels are equipped with 3" chambers and handle factory 2¾" and 3" loads.
# Maverick® 88™ barrels are compatible with Mossberg® 500® model barrels within gauge and capacity.
Good luck to your shoulder

I've been studying those too. They run a 600 gr. slug at 1500 fps, where a regular W-W 3" mag slug is 440 gr. at 1760 fps, so the recoil shouldn't be THAT much worse I wouldn't think. Pressure is going to be limited to the normal standards so no worries there.
By the way, buy these at Budsgunshop.com for $10 a box...

Why does that look painful to me?
