When I got back home to Virginia from my 5 month stint in British Columbia, the wife and I stopped by our local gun store and found this laying on the bottom shelf.
She didnt have a well known name like S&W, Ruger, Taurus... so not many people seriously looked at her.
She was a lil Spanish filly... sleek and dark and hot as fire.
I just had to have her.
She is an Astra Terminator .44 Magnum.
She is short, 2 5/8" barrel, but let me tell you, you dont ignore her... she has a bark as scary as her bite.
Not much is posted online about these wheelguns, but after carrying and shooting this one... I will be keeping my eyes on the bottom shelves of the stores hoping to find another.
Accurate at 40 yards as I can ask... she shoots better than me. About coffee can size groups, standing and unsupported.
Comfortable enough to shoot up a LOT of money in ammo at the range... if you were buying factory stuff.
VERY controllable.

I have owned my share of Smiths... and for what I paid for this one... happily under $400 out the door, I wasnt expecting a whole lot.
I expected wrong. This is one of the best shooting big bore snubs I have had in my hands.

This is my current carry piece, riding strong side in a Galco Silhouette.

Without further adieu...

Cool!

Mine is a 6" in SS. Very nice shooter. Another fellow here has a 6" SS that I know of. There may be more Astra's here. I watched for one for 2 years before finding one.

Great score ! I have one and it is sometimes my
concealed carry. I use a Galco Jackass shoulder
rig for it (same size as for a M29 S&W for holsters).
It really barks with 44 mag in it, but is very tame
with 44 specials. Have fun with it !

Nice wheel guns all around gents.

God I wish a Terminator would show-up in my life :) There was quite the write-up on warriortalk about that snubbie, more a love story but in a good way.

I'm keeping my eye pealed for a SS 44MAG Astra but I have a feeling it will be a long time, the gun market in Canada is so much smaller :(

Oh well, thanks for sharing :D

I had a six inch Astra 44mag...accurate, but it is the only revolver I have owned that went out of time.
Did you know you can adjust the trigger pull by taking off the grips and rotating the ring that the hammer spring seats in?

Yep... already bumped the tension up.
Its really an interesting action that it has... seems like a hybrid of S&W and ruger.

Walkalong,

Recessed cylinder chambers, and what looks like a pinned barrel? Interesting.

Hmmm, I'll have to start keeping my eyes open for one of these.

Yea, the P&R caught my eye...
They didnt cheap out on these things... they did their best to make them right.

Struck me as a cross between a Smith and a Colt Trooper Mk III.

looks like a pinned barrel? It is.

Had an Astra .357 that was an excellent revolver. Well made and accurate, with an adjustable hammer spring tension, a nice feature. A shame they didn't really catch on.

Very nice aquisition FoMoGo. Now I may have to keep a look out for one of those. I have an Astra A75 semi-auto 9mm that is as sweet as the day is long. I realy like the looks and build of your 44 mag.
