I like the longer bayonets. I'm partial to length in a fighter.

I too like those longer bayonets. From what I've read of the Napoleonic Wars and our own Civil War, with those long bayonets you can:

1) Forage better. Longer bayonets give longer reach when sticking pigs
2) Steal more. Bigger Virginia Hams fit better on long bayonets than shorter bayonets. Or you can carry your bread on it too
3) Cook more dough. Dough is wrapped around bayonet and cooked.
4) Roast more meat or stay farther away from a fire if you do. Short bayonets means your hands get roasted too. Long bayonets are easier to prop up and keep up.
5) taller candle-stick holder
6) better entrenching tool (yep, that & your tin cup)

BTW, I just got one for $75 on Ebay.

If there are any bayonet experts out there PM me- I have one my dad dug up in his back yard in Virginia as a kid and would like to ID it. Family lore is that it's Civil War vintage but none of us really know.
