Is it some change I've made to my settings or is it a system change where now when you click the "insert image" icon you're prompted to paste the URL in a dialog box rather than putting the IMG HTML brackets into your text. I despise this because a lot of times I'm pulling multiple links from different tabs which it won't let me do when the insert image URL box is open.

The Insert Image function never added the IMG tags to your text until the dialog box was closed after you pasted your link in it. The function you're describing is similar to what happens when you use the Italics icon (or Ctrl+I) which adds the Italics tags to your text, but, as far as I know, that never was the case with the Insert Image.

Are you thinking about the Quote icon which also acts the way the Italics works?
