Is there a better set of a scope base other than the one that comes with the 10/22? These are the rings I'm using http://www.millettsights.com/rings-bases/detachable-aluminum-rings/
The top ones there. I'm thinking maybe I need a set of Millet bases instead of the one that came with the 10/22. I had this mounted years ago by a shop. They used these rings with those bases. For several years it worked great. It's been dropped, banged around, etc. However, a few months ago I loosened them to move the scope in them slightly. I re tightened them and put marks on the rings, scope, and bases to make sure none of it was moving. I've noticed these last few times I've shot it I've had a little trouble with it holding zero. The first time I shot it I figured out the screw on the stock was coming loose. When it was loose it would shoot about 3" higher than when it was tight. Once I figured this out and kept it tight it stayed zero. Then I went and shot it again and it shoot a couple inches high again. Once I adjust it I can shoot 500-1000 rounds through it and it will never move. I can even bang it around a little and it wont usually move. I thought I had it fixed and it's stayed sighted in fine again recently. However, I noticed when I was cleaning it that it's moved about 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch. This is the rings on the base. The scopes seems to have stayed put in the rings but the rings are slightly further forward than my marks I made.
So this has me thinking I probably need to get another base that this wont happen with. On most other guns I've seen the base has notches in it so the cross bolt screw from the rings goes through it and wont let them move forward or rearward. This base doesn't. It's just flat on top. So what base should I change to? Do I need to change rings too? Or am I fine with these? Or is the best solution here to just loosen them and re tighten them and lock tight everything again?
