Well the problem rifle is a Marlin 336 in 30-30, serial number in the 3800's and I took it out to play the other day an the action seized up before the first round. :( Now its locked fully open with the loading gate slightly depressed. Is there an easy way to fix this or is a trip to the ol' Smithie' in order? Thanks for any help, just want her runnin again. :)

There's a screw that loading gate on. Remove it. Then, unsieze & replace the gate/screw.

Sounds like you may have short stroked the rifle, work the lever with authority when cocking.
You will need to take the magazine plug off, remove spring, follower and ammo. Unscrew the lever screw and work the lever out. You should be able to clear the jamb. Tighten/check all screws, including loading gate screw.
That should do it!

Let Me Clarify a bit. The Lever is locked all the way open. The Loading gate is probably not part of the bigger problem.

A loose loading gate screw, can and will cause a Marlin to jamb.

I've had a round move out of the magazine when the lifter was in the UP position (lever all the way open) and lock the action from being closed again. If you can see the next shell in the magazine, try to carefully push it forward with a pen or screwdriver. I was able to push my stuck cartridge forward (it took a bit of pressure) and that freed the gun back up.
Still don't know why it did it, and it was only that one time.

Thanks Guys. She's Workin Again!!! The loadin' gate screw had come loose and it wiggled down and flared in a bit just enough to make it all bind up. :banghead: bumped it over and tightened the screw and she's slick an pretty again. :D
