HELLO! My name is Miles Jensen

I have always been interested firearms but not until recently has this interest taken off, so whats the best rifle a poor college kid could get, thats right, a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I also have access to a winchester model 72 .22 (dads). I have to say Im REALLY enjoying this piece of Russian history, (Im a huge Russia/soviet fanatic), Ive put about 40 rounds through the gun ands its worked like a CHAMP!

The gun is all numbers matching except for the bayonet (or is that number not for ID purposes?) and an izhevsk

any advise for making the gun more acurate? I know its not going to be a 1 mile+ rifle but, its not exactly a super rare rifle that cant be taken back to stock easily

btw, what is the type of wood the stock is made of?

There are lots of people here that can offer really good advice on how to fine-tune the accuracy of your rifle. I'm not one of them, but I can attest from my own experience that using different types of ammunition can have pretty significant effects on accuracy. For example, my 91/30 shoots that yellow tip Bulgarian ammunition very well, but with the steel cased Czech ammo I tried, the bolt required me to hit it on the bench to open it, and accuracy was not nearly as good. I've also tried some of the copper-washed Russian ammo, which cycled well but I still couldn't get the accuracy I did with the Bulgarian stuff. From what I understand, each rifle is different so buy a few types and do a comparison.

I just found a place that has 100 rds for bulgarian for $20, so its in the mail, lets hope my gun likes it

now what about lacquered cases? I picked up a 20 pack of brown bear today for it, and Ive read several things saying its bad and others saying its fine, what about in a mosin?
