I have been interested in possibly trading a Kansas deer hunt on our property for some good private-water trout fishing in the mountains. Anyone here have any experience in doing this sort of thing? I know there are websites that claim to handle these things -- I just wonder how they work out?

All of the traded hunts I have been on are from when an outfitter I was working for traded hunts/ fishing with another. That said I am not sure of the rules in Kansas. Can an out of state hunter buy a deer tag over the counter? If so, or if you have an excess tag and your state allows gifting, it is pretty simple. You, (The outfitter in this case) aquires a tag for a deer in your state. Make accomadations, and contact viable parties. A good place to start is outfitters in the area you are looking to going fishing in. They will buy the required tags that you will need and set up accomodations for you on their end. It is that simple. Hope this helps.
