Im thinking of picking up a new Rossi 851 sight unseen. the price seems right. i like the look and finish. 38 special is adequate for me. just wondering if any of you longtime wheel gun guys have any experience with this model. dont want to waste my hard earned bucks. thanks.

I bought used about 15 years ago. Looked a little strange, but worked very well - locked up tight was very accurate and trouble free.
Rossi revolvers internals are very similar to S&W's.
I think you will like the gun.

I have one that I like alot, its one of my favorites to shoot, and like the previous response, mine locks up tighter than many of my more expensive re
volvers. I think you'll be happy with yours.

I bought it at Academy for 229? I think
Never buy another Rossi or Taurus Reolver.

If the revolver was not an 851 then that example is irrelevant as it is the 851 being considered. Not something else.

Here's the scoop on the Rossi 851 from the actual owners and users.

I have one (same as ritchie pictured above), 38 sp
mine bought NIB long ago, before Taurus took over Rossi, so cannot know if that matters
nice revolver, decent fit and finish, reliable, very accurate, decent SA trigger,
DA trigger not on a par with my S&Ws, but better than a lot of stuff you see these days... good value, reminds me of some of the 'better' specific make/model Taurus revolvers

I like it, it gets it's fair share of use
hence would be inclined to reccomend
