On Wednesday the Kansas House of Reps passed House Bill 2685 (http://www.kslegislature.org/bills/2010/2685.pdf) by a vote of 65-57 in which cities, counties, and the state couldn't prohibit people with CCW permits from carrying into buildings unless those buildings had "adequate" security, such as metal detectors. The bill would extend concealed carry privileges to almost all public buildings; municipal, county and state, including universities. The bill will now be sent to the Senate.
The chief sponsor is Republican Rep. Forrest Knox and I think he needs to hear some support. Now is the time to contact members of the Kansas Senate too.
