Picked up another one today. A tiny .38 Regulation Police I-frame that dates to prob'ly the late 1920's by the S/N. What an adorable little gun, and only $190, too!

Had good news & bad news:

The good news was we had ammo in stock at the shop.
The bad news was that it was nineteen & change for a box of fifty. :uhoh:

I found some 138 gr. UMC rounds, $10 for fifty rounds of FMJ, over at Outdoor World/Bass Pro Shops.

Not as cheap as reloading, but I got 200 rounds for $40.

Well, the guy had a couple of other interesting ones on his table (a Model 1, 2nd Issue for $150 and a Model 1 1/2, 1st Issue for two-and-change,) but I haven't plumbed the depths of non-Hand-Ejector Smiths yet, and need to pick up an M-frame before I do. If ever you're down this way, you're welcome to crawl a gun show with me, and maybe some Old Smittie Luck will rub off. :D

(My landlord, who had a table at the same show, saw me go running down the aisle back to my shop's area and followed me. "What've you found, Moppet?" he asked.
"What makes you say that?" replied I.
"Well, you just went scurrying past my table in that peculiar way of yours that means either 'I have to go to the bathroom' or 'I just got a cool new toy'." :D )

The little I-Frame is a .38 S&W chambering, right? (If so, Santa may have something for it's new owner...)

That load is for .38 Special (aka .38 S&W Special), not .38 S&W. These are not the same cartridge. The little Regulation Police was never made for .38 Special.

Picked up a nickel 3.25" .32 Hand Ejector Third Model (circa 1924) today for $175. Will take a picture of both on my next day off. (Wed? Thurs? Not sure... :uhoh: )

Everyone today sort of sneers at the .38 S&W, but those Regulation Police and Terrier models were once considered perfectly adequate for police work. The Terrier was a favorite of detectives who wanted something smaller and lighter than the Colt Dick Special or the short barrel M&P.
