Where can I get the absolute price on .45ACP, not including Wolf brand? How much is your total cost per box of 50, after shipping and taxes?
I live in Los Angeles if there are any local shops that can beat ~8.50/box of 50.

WalMart now has .45 Value Packs from Winchester.
I have never been able to beat my local gun shop after factoring in delivery and paying cash for 500 rounds at a time. I usually buy Federal AE as I've found it a little more accurate than most 230 gr FMJ.
He's offered good deals on Sellier & Belot and MagTech as well, but those don't shoot quite as well.
.45 ammo is fairly heavy, so finding an outfit closer to CA is a good idea.

The cheapest and most convenient I have found is the Winchester White Box value packs at Wal-Mart. The main difference is you don't have to figure shipping.

Natchez currently has a sale on the Blazer 230gr FMJ .45 @$6.99/bx plus shipping. W/shipping to Idaho that comes to $8.75/bx case price or $9.55/bx if you buy less than a case. Wally World value packs are the next cheapest for me.

I was going to refer you to AIM Surplus (http://aimsurplus.com/acatalog/copy_of_copy_of_copy_of__32acp.html) which has been great, but noticed they restrict ammunition sales to Los Angeles - do you live in the City or just the County? Great prices but maybe not available to you.

USA Brand, also known as Winchester White Box, $21.47 per hundred round 'value-pack' at my local Wally-World. (price quoted is tax included out-the-door.)
Every once in a while, I find Mag-tech at about the same price.

Try www.outdoormarksman.com. Even with shipping, best prices on S&B most of the time, also Winchester White box and Miwall. www.proload.com is also good for Remington UMC. Watch for sales at CheaperThandirt and you can get some good deals. Always factor in shipping, of course.

If in the Raleigh NC area http://www.Lancerammo.com is the cheapest around. Picked up 1k of 230gr ball (reloadable) for $150, at the Dixie Gun and Knife Classic for a friend of mine. LRN was even cheaper. But if not near by white box is going to be king unless you roll your own.

Wal-Mart may have the best prices in my area but last time I went to get some I was hassled by the clerk at the sporting goods counter. He wanted to see my ID to see if I was old enough to by pistol ammo (going on 50 years it should have been a no brainer) and knowing how some policies are concerning ID, I had no real problem. Then he wanted a second ID because he said my drivers license was not good enough. Then he just continued to give me a hard time about things I had no control over. I don't need that crap, my local gun dealer knows me and I don't have to put up with bull there. I will pay more for a friendly environment.

RCBS Rockchucker! (somebody had to say it.)
$1.50 per box of 50, and you get to choose the load.
