hunting steelhead

Here's a pic of my steelhead that I hunted for. This is gun related because I'm packin' a ruger sp101 under my waders.

A steelhead is an anadromous rainbow trout.

I miss steelhead fishing up north. I am considering getting my 15 foot noodle rod and Mitchell 408 out of the basement to chase steelees next week. Thanks for the pic.

I opened this thread thinking you might be using a spear gun...that would be pretty awesome with a mask and fins in a river full of steelies....also pretty cold.

Dupont sinkers are also pretty effective from what I hear.

yep, 8 weight, bunny leech, egg fly. The white one is a lab, malamute, kuvasz mix and today is her 12th birthday. I had to silence the drag on my reel so as to not alert her to every fish. She still saw this one. The other dog is my buddy's english setter, nice pup. I can't use a spear gun but the native americans up here can do just about anything short of a grenade. The A run is pretty thick this year.
