I was wondering if anyone has done any comparison of the two - pluses & minuses of scandium versus stainless steel. Aside from materials, they seem the same - is the extra weight enough of a help with recoil to make up when carrying?

I've searched unsuccessfully for the topic so if this has been done before, feel free to point me at the thread.

Thanks,

William

I've had a 327PD for several years, and I really like it for carrying because of the light weight. That said, it's pretty painful with Magnums. But, that also said, it's the sweetest shooting thing in the world with Specials, so that's how I carry it when I do.

Never did any direct comparison though.

I can compare from experience the 329PD to the 29 (.44 mags), and the comparison might apply to the models you mention. When I carry a .44 it's not intended to be fired much (usually as a sidearm when deer hunting). That being said, since I got the 329 I have not carried the 29. The 329 hurts a bit when fired (but it's great with .44 Specials), but the 29 is so heavy I tend to leave it at home. No question that the felt recoil in the Scandium gun is greater, but to me more recoil is better than carrying that weight. I'm a big fan of the Scandium gun.
