I'll start this one off.

Love the Bob Nose, Chuck.

And you just have to love that golf ball treatment! The view from the top reminds me of a lighted lane change sign. It's got "business end here" written all over it. :)

And I like that you added the treatment to the front of the trigger guard. Some say a finger doesn't "belong" there, but mine just naturally ends up there. And of course, the same effect on the proper side of the slide stop lever. Cool schtuff!

Lots of other cool pistols too, gents!

got me a new (to me) TRP with Custom Shop work done ($710) to it for the price of a new TRP

It has had a Nowlin match barrel and bushing added, custom fit frame to slide, replaced slide stop and safety, custom match hammer and sear, 3.5 lb trigger, and completely refinished in Armory Kote. I wonder if it was a "Pro" upgrade? I'll email the Custom Shop to see if it was.

I have a 10-8 trigger and rear sight to install ;)

It gives them that sorta tough rugged broke-in and well used look.

Thanks for those closer pictures of that colt.

Colts have never truly interested me for some reason, even being a big fan of 1911's, colts just don't grab me.

BUT!!!!!!!! that Talo edition is out of this world. i have no idea why that colt just grabs me and is screaming at me to find one and buy it.

Out of this world beautiful.

I'll tell you as much as I know about it...the serial number on the frame is in the 34,xxx region, which, from what I could find on serial production dates, puts it at about 1913 for being made. No government markings. The bluing is perfect, so I imagine it was refinished at some point. Here's a thread on it which includes all info I could gather and more detailed pics: http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=64959

Not really a rare piece by any means I don't think, but I like having it. Didn't pay too much for it, either.

That hardballer makes me wish there were 7" slides on the market so I could build one like that without searching for an actual hardballer.

Seriously, why AREN'T there any 7" slides on the market?

Well...Okay. Just this once.

This is about half the total. Got another half-dozen really collectible pistols in safe deposit boxes.

The five on the far right are Norincos. I've added three more since this was taken.

Anybody spot the oddball in this photo? Hint: It's in the bottom group.

It's the commander on the left of the bottom group, yes? That's a lot of 5" guns and one lonely sub-gubmint model. Looks like the collection of someone who appreciates the fundamentals of the original design.

1917 Remington UMC. The grips on it when I bought it were WWII, so not original. I had a piece of Stellar Sea Cow rib bone (an extinct dugong-like critter native to Alaska, killed off by the Russians in the early days) which is denser than normal bone and yellowed like very old ivory from lying on an Aleutian beach for 200 years. I carved a set of stocks out of that bone and I like the way it looks.

Just aftermarket trigger and sights.

Finally got a picture up of my Colt 1911 "Hybrid" gun. It started with a mix of a genuine 1911 frame, some 1911A1 parts, and an unmarked WWII slide. To put it back to a stock 1911, I had some original 1911 parts (big hammer, long trigger, slide catch, etc), but couldn't locate a nice 1911 slide. Then I happened upon a Colt made "repro" slide, not exactly like the new 01911 or 01918 guns, but with higher fixed sights...maybe a prototype, that slipped out of the factory to the Ohio Gun Collectors show last year. Anyway, I couldn't have done better. The slide is of modern steel, with Colt rollmarks, etc, and has sights I can see, and the frame is pretty original all the way around (except for the 1911A1 grip safety, that just makes it bite less). It is all Colt, with a military Colt replacement "match" barrel with fitted bushing. All in all, perfect for shooting, and better than an original 1911 for that purpose. I can't bring myself to have it refinished. It just begs for a holster or a day in the field. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/matquig/DSC05755.jpg

Thank you.

They just hit the market. I haven't even shot it yet. They're built in the Philippines by SAM.

You'll see them in this link if you scroll down a bit.

I saw the new Remington at a gun show last weekend and it was priced at something like $520 I think. Memory really sucks at this time of the morning, so good thing I'm at work..
I picked it up and it felt like a normal GI model and looked like one too. Nothing really special stood out and nothing made me not like it either.

An idential pair of Caspian .45s, stainless slides and frames, Schuemann barrels, BoMar and Colt sights, Colt, Brown, Wilson, EGW small parts. Only difference is that the bottom gun is polished and stippled. I did these a couple of years ago, older style which I still like.

My newest one.

Colt Series 70 MKIV Government. It has a Bo-Mar sight rib with tuner and customized to be a wadcutter 1911. I didn't customize this gun, these were popular back in the late 60's and 70's but you can still find examples of them today and I was lucky enough to snag one.

newest Custom Shop additions.

Was Quack kidnapped and replaced with someone who likes standard round triggers? ;)

nope, just got them and didn't have a hi-cap trigger or another 10-8 rear sight on hand.

BTW, i got the pair for $1500 and the previous owner had ~$2000 in Custom Shop work done to them (i have the paperwork from the Custom Shop).

so for the $3000+ that he had into them, i got it for 1/2 that and i don't have to search for a 9mm mil-spec anymore.

I was going to have the Custom Shop build me this gun at the cost of $2400, the only 2 things different from it are the S&A magwell, finish and checkering.

It thinks it's a 1911, but was stunted at birth. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/matquig/DSC05094.jpg

Here's mine. Sure, it's plan-jane, box stock (mostly) but it serves me well.
