Favorite gun finish for the P99?

Planning on making the 9mm Walther P99 one of my new guns for early next year. Can't decide on which finish to go with though -- kind of a tie between olive and titanium. Which is the more popular finish on this forum? Thanks! :)

Although I like the different finishes of the P99, I like the stealthy all black myself followed by the green second & the ti finish 3rd.

I like of like both the titanium and green just the same. Might end up doing what we say on the Beretta forum, "When in doubt, just buy both." :D Hope I get a better job soon...

I have never been, nor will i ever be a fan of "Crayola" pistols. IMNSHO...give me either blue/parkerized black finish, or give me stainless. No other will do.

Also.....not to jack your thread or anything, but what's up with all of these camo colored weapons lately?! I truly can't help but laugh at them. Even if they are used for hunting....what advantage do they really offer? I just don't believe that a game animal is going to be unaware of your presence in all respects ( sight, sound, and more importantly scent), and yet somehow spot a weapon with standard finish, and say " Oh look, it's a hunter!! I better run!!" The thought of it just cracks me up.
If someone else could enlighten me on any other advantage of these oddities...please do. I could use a good laugh!:neener: :D

I personally haven't noticed. This is the first I've seen of the kind, and I'm not the kind of person to be attracted to the camo look. But I have stainless and black so I guess I'm looking for something a little different.

BTW...I'm not bashing the new olive finish on pistols...I personally don't like it but that's just me. I'm referring to that camo pattern that they are putting on rifles and shotguns lately. Tactical advantage for hunters....give me a break! looks like a toy for guys who still think that they are G.I. Joe, or some other such nonsense.

I tend to agree with you there. I like a classic walnut look or a nice wooden finish rather than camo on long guns. As for the Walther -- I'm stuck. The olive has it's charm but I am a big fan of the two-tone look...:D

I like the Titanium finish one a bit more than the plain black.

I don't really like any of the Olive Drab guns I have seen... :barf:

I say go for the two tone look. Given your last post, I'd say that it will hold it's appeal to you long after the novelty of the olive finish would be gone. Years from now....which would you still be taking out of the safe just to google over?

Got a point there. I had Tripp (when they were in business) give both my Beretta compacts a chrome finish on the slide and barrel. The black compact particularly looks great in two-tone. I can just see myself carrying the Walther titantium in a shoulder holster under a nice long leather black coat....

All black was my choice. Still is. It has a unmatched purity of intent to me.

2nd choice would be bright finish (Ti?). Olive reminds me of a Simunitions or BB gun for some reason.

I have the all black P99, very classy. The titanium slide model is also nice. Like others have said, one now and one later :).

I'll have to go against the tide and vote for the OD green finish.

I have a lot of other OD stuff though so they all just look better together for me.

The green finish makes the gun look like something that slid out of a very sick animal.

Very descriptive Lone Gunman...:what: At any rate, I've just spoken with my local gun dealer. I'm told prices will be increasing in January for all firearms so I've decided to move quickly -- layaway if I must. I'll be getting the Walther p99 in titanium...this time around. :D

OD green for me. I just have a thing for OD green guns, knives, flashlights, etc.

I almost bought a P99 (got a used 226 instead).

I dig the dark green in a big way! Was a VERY comfortable fit in my hand.

Black would be my 2nd choice.

Either color would go great with almost any outfit!

All black for me. I've had the 9mm in black since 8/02.

Black's the choice for me, although the titanium interests me sometimes.

I would go with the titanium model, myself.

BTW I have shot the P99, and thought it was a decent pistol. While I still prefer 1911's, the design on the Walther is well thought out, better than a G&^$!.

You going 9mm, or .40 cal on you P99? BTW, S&W is now selling a .45 version.

I'd probably go with the 9mm. All my Berettas are 9mm and I like with the weight of the Walther, it'd probably be the most comfortable caliber. I still get conflicted though by whether between the Walther or a Brigadier. On one hand, I have three Berettas so a Walther would be a nice change (besides, isn't the grip designed by an Italian?). On the other hand, the Berettas are a sweet gun. Maybe it'll come done to cash. How does the Walther shoot, and what is the going cost for the titanium version? Anyone know?

To answer, "...how do they shoot?" I rented one a few months ago and found it not as easy to shoot as say, a 1911, but pretty accurate and perfectly reliable.

I give them a plus for safety, and the interchangable grip sections. I had a Glock some years ago, but was not comfortable with only the trigger safety. The P99 has a decocker on the slide, which is safer IMHO. They seem to have all of Glock's virtues, and none of their faults.

On the downside, the P99's grip was a little too slick for my tastes...it could use more checkering.

It struck me as a pretty good light backpacking gun, provided the only predators might be two legged:D

God help the person who drops their Realtree camo rifle in the brush. I guess it is designed to make them hard to find if you prop it up against a tree?
