I've always had a thing for single action revolvers, and have wanted a .45 Colt one for most of that time. But every time I got into a gun shop looking at them, I would talk myself into a .357 Magnum one, because I already had plenty of ammo for it. So I finally decided that I was going to get my first .45 Colt one, and after browsing through my favorite gun shop and doing reading some online reviews, last week I bought my first Heritage Arms Big Bore .45 Colt.

All blue with walnut grips and 5.5” barrel.

I headed out to shoot it for the first time yesterday with some UltraMax 250gr RNFP and MagTech 250gr LFN.

I ran a few cylinders of each through it to get a feel for it, and noticed right off, that it was putting both fairly close to POA at 15 yards. After about 25 rounds of each, I settled down to try for some good 5 shot groups with a two hand unrested hold, and was really happy with it.

Targets were regular paper plates with Beachwood/Casey “Target Dots” in the center, that are 1 1/2” across.

The MagTech ammo shot a slightly wider group, with the first shot being a flyer that was the shooters fault! (As I was lining up the sights, I accidentally pulled the trigger to soon)

The UltraMax ammo was just perfect, dead on POA.

I really like this pistol!

Well I guess nobody has an opinion on these guns? I've read some of the reviews, and they have had favorable reviews for a budget 45LC. Looks nice, plus it looks like it shoots straight. I am still leaning towards a Blackhawk, but your Heritage Big Bore is making me think twice.

My opinion is that I like mine. Same basic set up as shown. I've run several thousand rounds through mine with out any problems.

I've really enjoying this one. It has really impressed me with the overall fit and finish.
