Woman kills robbers in her home

A 41-year-old woman shot and killed two men following a robbery at her home in Honeydew on the West Rand, police said on Saturday.
Superintendent Milica Bezuidenhout said the victim was sleeping in her bedroom when she was awakened by three robbers standing next to her bed yielding firearms.
Bezuidenhout said two of the robbers started ransacking the house while the third robber guarded the victim.
"The third robber then left the room to see what the others were doing."
During his absence the victim took out her firearm, Bezuidenhout said.
"When the robbers returned to the room they demanded that the victim accompany them.
"She then produced her firearm and fired shots in their direction."
A shoot-out ensued and one of the robbers was shot in the chest and died on the scene.
The other two robbers then ran towards the direction of the garage and continued firing shots at the victim.
The victim then ran onto the veranda and called to the neighbours for help.
Police were called to the scene.
On arrival at the scene police found the second robber laying dead in a nearby veld.
The third robber managed to flee and was not yet arrested.
The victim was uninjured.
