I have a new shooting sling marked with the letters "MRT." The sling is light in color and looks like it has never been oiled. Do I need to do anything before I use it? I have no clue how to care for leather products, so details would be appreciated.

No offense, man, but those MRT slings are pretty bad from the get go. They are always dry like cardoard, and when oiled they get mighty stretchy. If you want to try to make it into a real sling, I think an oiling with 100% neats foot oil would help, and then hang a weight from it for a few days to take the stretch out.

Thanks for the help. That is what I was afraid of. I'll see what I can do with it.
