A range of guns

We get a lot of threads asking what one (or 2 or 3) handguns you would choose if you had to. This question is a little different.
What would your selection be to cover the waterfront?
(no you can't say all of them)
My choice would be:
1911
.44 mag
.357
.22
9mm (don't have one yet)
.45 LC, ditto
Ruger LRC again, ditto.
So, what do you all think?

not sure if i understand your question. If you are asking what gun would i own to cover all aspects of shooting?

Then i would say a 9mm Semi Auto like an M&P or Glock. Brand/style that you can get good parts selection and a solid company... the 9mm is a very potent round with the new designs of Hollow Point ammunition. It is affordable to shoot so that will let you practice a lot as well as protect your home/self in a bad situation.

If i could only have 1 gun, it would probably be a Glock 19. Small enough to Conceal carry comfortably, Can use larger magazines if you want and it won't let you down.

A couple revolvers in .357 and 38, nothing aluminum, polymer, etc.
A couple 9mm semi-autos, compact and full size.
A couple .45acp semis, mid and full size.
One good .22 semi.

1 J frame sized gun in .38/.357 (doesn't matter, .38 +p is what gets shot)
1 L frame (or equivalent) in .357
1 1911 5" or 4 1/4"
1 22 LR revolver with 4-6" barrel and adjustable sights.
1 Compact .45 such as a S&W M&P 45c
1 44 Magnum or similar "bear" gun

Plinking/small game - a nice .22 (I would prefer a K-22 Masterpiece)
SD/HD - something in the 9mm/38-357/40/45 range that you feel comfortable with. (Personally, I lean more towards a 357 for variety of possibilities of ammo use)
Hunting/Big critter protection - 44mag or 454. Personally a Freedom Arms would fill the bill, most likely in 454/45LC

Personally, I would think whatever calibers you prefer, that you would want the same style of platform for familiarity reasons

I think you need a centerfire rifle or 3, but then, I don't know about your "waterfront."

The way I'm building out my arsenal, all my ammo is interchangeable among all my guns. Whether I grab a box of .38 spl or .357, the gun can shoot it. Main differences are length of barrel, capacity, and weight.

Most likely-

A) .45 ACP Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special / West German SIG-SAUER P220A
B) .357 magnum 6" Smith & Wesson 686
C) 9m/m West German SIG-SAUER P228 / Smith & Wesson model 39-2*
D) 9m/m Kahr CW-9 (when everything else becomes too large to tote)
E) .380 ACP Kel-Tec P3AT (for back-up duty, only)~! ;) :D
