I recently bought a Springfield Loaded parkerized at a pawnshop. It appears
to be an older model with a two piece barrel, non ambidextrous safety
"square" front grip, and non adjustable trigger. I tried to call Springfield
to find out when it was made and if it had mim parts but I wasn't able
to get through. It shoots good so far with 230 Rem. HP.

Oh yes, it does not have the ILS either(thank god)

Does anyone know when Springfield started using mim?

Not sure when SA started using MIM, but...

You said it has the two piece barrel and I see the front cocking serrations, factory Novak type sights and it looks like a more modern finish, then it most likely has MIM parts. I wouldn't worry about it. I've used and tuned a few SA MIM parts. They are good MIM parts and they hold up well.
I wouldn't worry about it from a performance perspective.

Mim will usually fail early in life, or live to be very old. I wouldn't sweat it:)

you covered the S/N... Does it say Brazil on it and/or does the first part of the S/N say "NM"?

It just says "Springfield, Geneseo Ill. USA". Under the dust cover
it says "f.i. Brazil". I don't know if this means fabricated or forged in
Brazil. The serial # starts with "N" then the numbers.

By the way, thanks for the responses. I'm thinking it was made around
'99 or 2000 based on what I have gathered on this and other sites.

If you take the grips off, I forget what side. Is there a date under them?
My new one says 2009, and my old one says 1999.
