There's not much you can't conceal with the right clothing. I can very effectively hide a No4 Enfield under the cloak I wear in the winter...

Aside from practical issues, there are also legal ones. In some states, CCW of a rifle is legal, but not in others.

If you SBR a rifle, you could very easily conceal one.

Check out www.serbu.com for a concealable 12ga. Another good one would be a SBR AR-15.

Some people do need to conceal a rifle for legit reasons.

I can "conceal" my Bushy superlight under a long coat, at least to the point that I don't think anyone would notice if they weren't looking for it.
